Family Mourns The Loss Of A Father And Two Sons in A Senseless Shooting

We sometimes hear of things happening and wonder how a family is able to deal with the tragedy. Unfortunately, it is something that happens all too often in the world where we live and, at times, it might seem all too random. After all, we have natural disasters that can affect an entire community and they have little they can do to adjust the outcome of those situations. Every once in awhile, however, we hear of a tragedy and it is so random and senseless that it makes our hearts go out to those that were involved.

Such a situation took place recently in Sumter County, North Carolina. A young man named Eugene Martin entered into a home with a gun and when the shooting stopped, a father and his two grown sons were dead. To make matters worse, he also shot one of the son’s wives and she was pregnant with their son. Although she didn’t die as a result of the injuries, the son was born via C-section and is now in critical condition. This type of senseless violence makes us realize just how fragile life can be.

Eugene Martin is now up on 3 counts of murder for the shooting death of Raymond Davis, 61, and his two sons Randy and Marcus. He is also facing an additional 4 counts of attempted murder. A family member said that the father and sons were ‘loving and full of life’, adding that she would be ‘praying for’ Eugene Martin.

This isn’t the first time that Eugene Martin has been in trouble with the law. About 4 years ago, he was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Now, he is facing some serious prison time and is awaiting trial in the Sumter County jail.
