They sometimes say that everybody has a price but obviously, they are familiar with the family in this story. In fact, they prove that money isn’t everything and money can’t buy happiness.
It happened outside of Sydney, Australia, when developers were getting ready to put up some housing in the area. They came to their door with an offer to purchase their land and home and it was a rather generous offer.
Although the numbers aren’t fully known, it is thought that their property is worth about $50 million. That’s a lot of scratch!
The Zammit family stood their ground and said that they were not willing to sell the family home. If they did, they knew that it would be leveled for tract homes and they couldn’t bear to see that happen.
The developers continued to buy up property on all sides of them, but they refused to be part of it. They are building all around their property, squeezing in on them but not touching their property line.
The big offers that were offered to the other homeowners in the area were readily accepted. That wasn’t the case for this family, however, who held onto property and refused to walk away.
It seems as if they had quite an offer put in front of them but that money was not enough to change their life or their children’s lives as they would like it. It is essentially their business what they do with the property and they are making any statements about it.
This might seem unusual, but the family is happy with their home and nobody is going to take it away from them.
