Did you ever think about what you would say to someone you lost? For example, maybe your grandparents have passed away, and for some people, even their parents. One of the hardest losses anyone can ever experience is the loss of their mom. Soul Pancake did a project where they brought together people from ages one to 105 and asked them what they would say to their moms if they could. Specifically, the experiment wanted people to say what they would say to their moms if they could go back to the age they are now. For example, the seven-year-old girl was to talk to her mom at that age.
One lady was in her 80s and wanted to explain that she did talk to her mother when her mother was in her 80s. She said that they gave each other a lot of wisdom. What would you do if you could go back and talk to your mom at the age you are now? I’m 43, and I think I would tell my mom that life wasn’t going to be easy, but that everything would always turn out OK in the end. I’d also like to go back and tell my mom when she was a scared little girl that it would be OK someday and she would grow up to have a nice husband and two kids who made her proud.
I know that my mom would like to have this opportunity with her own mother as well. The fact is, life is hard, and there isn’t much we can do about that. You just never know what like is going to hand you. The best you can do is be prepared. What you can do now is give that wisdom to your own self at this age, the age you are now.
