Johnny Carson Had His Share Of Great Moments But This One From 3 Decades Ago Leads The List

Did you ever notice how some children just seem to have the ability to become a star from a very young age? That is the case with Drew Barrymore, and we still love her in movies down to this day. As it turns out, children not only have fun watching the movies and TV, they also make some interesting guests for late-night talk shows. That was the case with Barrymore, who showed up on the Tonight Show almost 3 decades ago.

Barrymore was only seven years old when she was on the Johnny Carson show. He had an interview with her and as you watch it below, you will see why she was destined to become such a huge star. Her personality, which has won her many roles over the years was easy to see, even when she was a young child.

It was in 1982 that Barrymore showed up on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson for the first time. She was already quite popular from the movie, ET and when she went on the stage, she made a huge blunder starting things off. She slipped on the floor and fell down but she managed to get through it with a lot of grace. Carson even helped her over to her seat.

Barrymore was quite charming as she sat across from Carson. He even told her that there were many others who had slipped on the stage before she did. She said it was the slippery shoes she had on and the audience fell in love with her right away.

They talked about a lot of different subjects, including going to the dentist, fashion and her career as an actress. She didn’t hold anything back and even popped her fake teeth out during the show to let everyone see how they looked while her adult teeth were growing.

Carson wanted to know if she would be more comfortable if she left her fake teeth out during the interview and she got rid of them immediately. She even put them on Carson’s desk, which got a lot of laughs.

When Carson asked her about her role in ET, talked about Steven Spielberg and how she auditioned for poltergeist but she thought that she wouldn’t play the part. He did see that she would be perfect for the role in ET.

Barrymore also talked more about the audition, saying how she could act “in awe” of something and she needed to scream, which she described as “screaming her throat off”

Carson loved the little girl’s personality and he invited her to come back again. Everyone who commented on the interview was lovely and one person even noted: “She is obviously a natural onstage. She had no fear at all, she was sharp, and she was cute”

Another person remarked, “God, she was just so adorable!”

Another commenter talked about how she was so focused during the interview. This isn’t something that you see in all seven-year-old children.

Somebody pointed out the skill that Carson had as well. “Carson was actually a good interviewer (although that should really go without saying). The way he immediately made Barrymore feel comfortable after that entrance by mentioning that a lot of adults have had that issue is amazing”

Barrymore is now grown with her own daughters and she has learned a lot about parenting. She even said in another interview recently with Ellen DeGeneres that having her own children is life-changing.
