Light Show Has Angry Halloween Pumpkin Singing ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ by Nirvana

If you were a teen growing up in America in the 90s, it’s almost impossible to have never heard a Nirvana song. Kirt Coban is an iconic figure representing a new genre of music that took form in the 1990s called “grunge.” Coban’s gravelly voice could go from melodic to enraged from verse to verse, and the band enjoyed numerous successful songs. However, the one signature song that everyone knows by heart is “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” You could play just a few bars, and folks who grew up in the 90s would be able to name it right away.

Tragically, Coban died by his own hand on April 5, 1994, during the height of his fame. However, his memory lives on in Nirvana’s music which new generations continue to discover every day. Some folks recently outfitted their home with thousands of LED lights in a Halloween theme in celebration of Nirvana’s most famous song.

Even better, they timed the pulsing of the lights to “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

But, the best part of the show has to be the singing Halloween pumpkins who lip-sync the song’s lyrics.

Watching a giant electric pumpkin singing “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is quite a sight. I’d bet the band never thought their music would become this engrained in our culture.
