People from around the world suffer from a malady that is not often discussed. It is a fear of spiders, something known as arachnophobia. If the appearance of an eight-legged creature causes you to scamper across the room in the opposite direction, you may just suffer from this issue that you certainly are not alone.
Sometimes, people will find a spider and post it online to learn a little bit more about the creature. That is what happened on Reddit, when a user posted a picture of a huge spider they said they found in their front yard. It all started with a simple picture from Reddit user u/noobshifu69.
It’s hard to tell exactly how large the spider is from just looking at the picture but some people have compared it to the spider from the Forbidden Forest in Harry Potter, Aragog.
I’m not sure if it is huge or not, but the eyes are a little cute.
If you are a Harry Potter fan, you probably know about Aragog. He was the leader of a giant spider Army that lived in the Forbidden Forest in Hogwarts. Most of the students who came across Aragog did not care for him much but Hagrid, the groundskeeper, considered him to be a good friend.
Aside from looking like Aragog, which was pointed out by many people on Reddit, others said that he might be a wolf spider.
The Wildlife Trust reports that wolf spiders are considered ‘beneficial neighbors’ who keep some pests out of the garden. Some even say that the Reddit user should be thankful they have the spider in their front yard.
I would have to say that statement is up for debate.
