Nurse Saves Preemie Baby 28 Years Ago And Meets Him Again At Work

You never quite know what is going to happen to you from one day to the next. You may feel as if everything is going along without incident and suddenly, the most unexpected thing can happen.

Nobody knows this better than Brandon Seminatore. He was born at only 29 weeks and spent a long time in the NICU unit at Stanford children’s health.

His stay at the hospital was fairly standard, as far as premature babies are concerned. There was something, however, that was not standard and it will touch your heart.

His primary care nurse during the time he was at the NICU was Vilma Wong. She cared for him during the time that he needed an incubator to keep warm and while he was getting poked endlessly to ensure that he was progressing along nicely.

Of course, Brandon doesn’t remember those days but Vilma remembers them quite well. 28 years have passed during that time and Vilma is still working at the Stanford Children’s Hospital.

As it turns out, Brandon studied to be a doctor and is now working at the same hospital. As chance would have it, the two of them met each other and it was an absolutely amazing encounter.

When his parents first took him to Vilma, she said that his name sounded familiar. She asked where he came from and when he told her San Jose, she immediately knew that he was the premature baby from 28 years before.

Many people were crying when they learned about the unique meeting and how the two of them are now working together at the same hospital. It is true that you never quite know what is going to happen from one day to the next.

As far as Brandon is concerned, he calls the situation surreal. We can imagine how that would be the case if you are meeting the provider who cared for you when you were a baby. His parents even had a picture of the two of them together and now they have a new picture to add to the collection.
