One of the most devastating things that could happen to a parent is to lose their child in death. It doesn’t happen often but when we do hear about it happening, our hearts really go out to the family and all that they are going through. There are times when the child dies suddenly and you might not have the chance to prepare yourself for it mentally. Even if you see it coming from far off, however, it is something that you will never quite get over. At times, it may even push a parent to the edge.
That is what happened to a family of a 9-year-old boy who had lost his fight with cancer. Nicu Arava and his wife Vali, both 46, were struggling to cope with the loss of their son and eventually, they thought it was just too much to take. When they were found inside of their home, it was already too late. The mother and father had committed suicide and their bodies were with the young boy. The neighbors had become concerned and when they went in, they discovered what had happened.

The young child had been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor at the age of two. He fought a good fight over the next 7 years but eventually, his body just gave out. When they found the family in their home, the mother was covered in a blanket and placed beside Christian, their son. It seems as if she may have hung herself. The father was found in the kitchen, apparently having killed himself by hanging.
After further investigation, they found a 13-page letter that described their story and said goodbye to their loved ones. The mother had started it 7 years prior with a blog post, saying she felt ‘like I was dying myself when I heard the diagnosis. I can’t express the pain that two parents feel when finding such terrible news about their child. He was only two years old.’ Their son had a slim chance of survival due to the growth of the tumor.
