From the time that many children are very young, they seem to be fascinated with dinosaurs. There just seems to be something interesting about those huge creatures and the thought of what it must have been like to be alive millions of years ago when they walked the earth. As more and more information is added to our understanding of dinosaurs, the imagination of children just sparks more and more. That is especially true when they make a discovery that is unprecedented in history, such as recently, when they discovered a completely intact T-Rex skeleton.
As far as dinosaurs go, the T-Rex is certainly a crowd favorite. Their impressive size and large teeth to match make for some interesting study. In the past, they would find bones here and there but with this find, it is complete from head to tail. It is actually 2 dinosaurs that were discovered in Montana by professional fossil hunters, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and a Triceratops Horridus. The find was known by those who were privy to it as the ‘dueling dinosaurs’ and they are preserved in an interesting encounter that was likely a matter of the predator going after the prey. In the end, neither dinosaur came out on top because they both found until they died together.
This type of find has never occurred before. It was first found in 2006 but it took quite a few years for it to be extracted and purchased. The amount that was paid by the non-profit, Friends of the North Carolina, and then they were donated to the North Carolina Museum Of Natural Sciences and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. They will soon be part of a dedicated exhibit.
There is more to the story of these two dinosaurs. It seems that they were in such a life or death struggle that some teeth from the T-Rex was stuck into the body of the triceratops body. Considering this battle took place some 67 million years ago, it is quite a find! Learn more in this video:
