When it comes to celebrities and in particular, two singers, there is always a little bit of mystery that surrounds them. The same could be said of almost any celebrity, but it seems as if singers try to hide themselves behind the scenes and not let too many people in. Of course, there are some who are a little more mysterious than others and I think we could all agree that Sia falls into that category. She is a singer and songwriter out of Australia and she has also done some voice acting as well as video directing. When she first got started, she was with the rock band, Crisp, but after they disbanded, she got started in her solo career.
When Sia first got her start, she was known for the rather unusual stage presence that she had. She would wear a huge bow in her hair, which was actually a wig that was black on one side and white on the other. The wig would cover almost her entire face so that just her chin was showing. In more recent years, she has started to show herself again but it’s interesting to look back at the way that she was just a few years ago. That is what you can do in the following video, which shows Sia singing one of her more famous songs, ‘Elastic Heart’ on The Voice UK back in 2015.
In true fashion, she was standing on the stage and her entire face was hidden by her wig. It almost looked as if she was standing backward but in reality, she was facing forward. The microphone even had to be tucked inside of the wig for her to sing into it.
Sia gave us a peek behind the scenes as to why she covers her face. It had to do with her early career, in which she almost dropped out after being an alcoholic and a drug addict that got sober. She felt that it was destabilizing when she started to get famous so she started hiding yourself. She also jokes about it frequently. Regardless of why she does it, it’s great to see her in the following video.
