Stephen Ridley Sits In An Empty Metro Station For A Touching Performance Of ‘Imagine’

It wasn’t all that long ago that it seemed as if the world was somewhat normal. We lived in a time when it was possible to send a message out to the world through video and if it was a message that was worth watching, thousands or perhaps even millions of people could see it. One of the messages that was often sent was a surprise and impromptu concert that occurred in a public location. It was often a busy Metro station where a piano was located so that anyone could sit down and play a few notes. When somebody started playing, it wasn’t long before a crowd gathered and when the video was posted, an even bigger crowd gathered online.

In the video that you see below, we can tell that the world is quite a different place than it was just a few weeks ago. COVID-19 has us all on lockdown and quarantined in our homes. There are some of us who have to go out for essential work but we do our best to stay home and stay safe. We long for a time when we can get back out again and enjoy the experience of being around others. Until that time happens, we can enjoy this video, because it shows us that simple things are what we miss the most. It is Stephen Ridley, who sits down at a piano at an empty Metro station in London and performs the song, ‘Imagine’.

I think that all of us would agree that ‘Imagine’ is a very powerful song. It is something that can easily make you thoughtful of all that the world has to offer and the fact that, although we are diverse, we are all very much the same. It is a song by John Lennon and Yoko Ono that has touched the world.

In the end, Stephen dedicates this song to the world and it shows us just how much things have changed. Eventually, we may get back to life as normal again and we will look back on these moments, happy that we were able to get through it.
