The Crowd Went Silent When The Bride Started Signing For Her Deaf In-Laws

One of the most special events that we will have in our life is our wedding. There is a lot of planning that goes into it because every bride wants their wedding to go perfectly.

Kelsey Kulick was no different when it came to her special day. She was about to get married to the love of her life, Michael, and had been planning that day since they got engaged.

Michael is a special individual and his parents are both deaf. When they talk to each other, they use sign language but Kelsey didn’t know how to sign a word.

Although she picked up a few words here or there just by watching her in-laws, she decided that she was going to take things to the next level. It took a lot of practice but she was committed to learning sign language.

Of course, she didn’t want to spring this on her new husband. After all, it was his wedding, just as much as it was her wedding.

Kelsey said: “I wanted to run it by him because I wanted to make sure it was going to be OK with his parents before I just did something.” Her fiancé agreed and even said that his parents would love it.

Perhaps the funniest part was that Michael had completely forgotten that his wife was going to do this at their wedding!

From that point on, she began learning sign language from one of Michael’s aunts, who is married to a man that is deaf.

Kelsey said: “And I basically just asked her if she could record herself signing my vows so that I could use it and practice it and know that I was doing the right signs. I used that for several weeks and practiced on my own and then surprised him and his family and my family.”

Michael and his aunt were the only two people who knew about the plans. They also let the videographer in on the secret, so he could capture the moment perfectly. That is to say, Michael should have known but he forgot.

Michael said: “It took me a second to really realize that she was actually signing her vows. All my emotions caught up to me at once, and I just couldn’t contain myself. I thought it was really sweet. It really was probably the most special moment of the wedding besides us actually getting married and becoming husband and wife.”

Michael’s parents agreed. He said they thought it was ‘super sweet’ and spoke about how special the moment was for them.

The video was shared online and millions of people saw it. It was a special moment that was worth viewing.

Kelsey said that she has future plans of learning how to be fluent in sign language. She wants to communicate with her family and she doesn’t want that barrier to be there.
