It doesn’t matter who we are, we all have a certain level of talents. Some people, however, have talent that really needs to be shared with the world. They might even get the opportunity to stand in front of a panel of judges and perform for a worldwide audience. This happens when aspiring singers join The Voice UK, Blind Auditions, and they are given the opportunity to show their talent, get a little exposure and perhaps even be discovered by influential people in the music industry.
The coaches for the show are will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Sir Tom Jones, and Olly Murs and it is their job to see which of the contestants performing in front of them (or behind them) is going to move on to the following rounds. Rather than looking at the individual, they make the choice based on the voice that they are hearing because they sit with their backs to the contestants. They do more than simply listen to the hopefuls, they also hear some stories and share a moment or two with the contestant as well.
Actress and singer Bethzienna Williams is one of those who made it onto an episode and she was able to sing with Tom Jones. More than likely, you are familiar with him because of some of his hit songs, such as, ‘What’s New Pussycat’, ‘It’s Not Unusual’, and ‘She’s a Lady’. They started discussing the song, Cry to Me by Solomon Burke and he wanted to find out how much she knew about it. She then said that she discovered the song from the film, Dirty Dancing, and she has loved it ever since. After hearing that Jones also liked the song, she talked him into coming forward to sing and he took her up on it.
It wasn’t long before Jones stepped forward and the audience was excited about what was about to take place. It isn’t very often that contestants are able to get one of the judges to stand up with them. Bethzienna didn’t seem nervous about the fact that she was about to sing the song with Tom Jones, she just stepped up to the plate and started. Before long, the audience was on their feet.
Bethzienna Williams and Tom Jones were really pouring their heart into it and it was entertainment that you don’t typically see. It was a treat for the performer but also for the audience.
