Ciara Johnson is a solo travel blogger. She was waiting for an Uber to pick her up and when a car pulled over, the driver quickly jumped out and threw her suitcase in the trunk. She hadn’t had the opportunity to check the license plate and was a little confused as to how quickly things happened.
It didn’t take her long to recognize that she was actually being put into the wrong car. She decided that her experience should be shared on Twitter and it helps many people to realize the dangers out there.
The driver of the car did take the luggage out and simply said that he wished it wasn’t the wrong car. The actual Uber was behind them and when she told the driver what happened, he said that it happens frequently.
It seems as if men drive around and pick up ladies in the hopes that they won’t notice. After she started speaking with the real Uber driver, the other one got back in his car and sped off.
This is a lesson that all of us can take away. Uber has certain checks and balances in place, including the license plate number for the car. Your driver should also ask for a pin to make sure that he is taking the right client.
You can also ask the driver what your name is and he should be able to answer it. Take a look at the profile picture and always share your location with somebody else.
You should also not get in a car, such as a taxi or Uber if there is somebody else already in it. Sometimes, the driver may bring along their boyfriend and that is not allowed. It can be a very dangerous situation.
