Kids Are Now Eating Food Packaging For The Latest ‘Shell On Challenge’

There is no denying that the Internet has changed our lives in numerous ways. As it continues to change and develop, it even touches us on a deeper level. That is the case with social media, which allows us to stay connected with friends and family so we can share the latest information, pictures and news. Some of us have even gotten in touch with people that we have not talked to in many years and rekindled old relationships.

Social media can be a great tool that we use for a variety of purposes but when you are a teenager, parents really need to be concerned. We try to give warnings to keep our teenagers as safe as we possibly can but the unfortunate reality is, there are going to be some things that slip through the cracks. Even some simple things, such as taking a banana peel off before you eat the banana may seem as if it goes without saying but as you are about to see, it sometimes is necessary to say it.

It seems as if there is another challenge out there on social media and this is just too bizarre to ignore. In addition, it can be dangerous so parents really need to be on the lookout.

The challenge is currently seen in the United States but it may be spreading to a wider area soon. It is known as the ‘shell on challenge’ and it basically challenges teenagers to film themselves eating items without taking the packaging off.

In some cases, a teenager might eat a handful of peanuts without removing the shell or they might eat a watermelon rind. Then again, they may just eat the cardboard or plastic wrapping before they eat the food inside.

Like many challenges, teenagers are doing this to impress people that they have never met before. They are also making a lot of us wonder why anybody would think it was a good idea.

When doctors found out about this latest challenge, they began sending out a warning for teenagers to stop doing it right away. Peanut shells or watermelon rinds are not necessarily going to harm you but plastic or cardboard may contain chemicals that could be very harmful.

If you are a parent of a teenager, make sure that you check on their social media accounts regularly and warn them not to participate in this crazy challenge.
